Tonight's Gonna Be a Good, Good Night! (Photographers in Peril-Twilight Saga Special)

Photomanipulation and Concept by George Pontino Jr.
Inspired by the movie: Twilight Saga: Eclipse

When the movie Twilight was released it became a hit to many teens. Then it spawned a sequel Eclipse and I was able to gather an idea where I have to ask some Facebook friends if they were interested to be a part of a Photomanipulation. In this case, many agreed and so I was able to realize my vision by implementing some humor, effects and the look of the final manipulated image. So here is the Making (above photo) and the final output (below photo) plus the list of "cast" below:

Macro Baptism in the Insect World! (Baby Photomanipulation Series)

Photomanipulation and Concept by George Pontino Jr.

(NOTE: No insects were harmed during the making)

"I baptize you in the name of the ..."
Imagine, this baptism is happening in the insect world where a cardinal is mantis, the photographer is also a mantis and the celebration is attended by the Frogs, bugs and with a violinist grasshopper providing the cathedral music. The model is still my godson Alvi. I made this photomanipulation as an exhibit displayed during his real baptism day. See how I made this from start to finish (see the image below)

Safari Sun (Photographers in Peril part 5)

Photomanipulation and concept by George Pontino Jr.

(NOTE: No animals were hurt during the shooting of this image and during the 2-hour rush photo manipulation process.)

A spark of an idea can be dangerous...
Well, for my part, a concept can take my mind to the African tundra, jungle or any perilous place  it can imagine. Thanks to Photoshop, every place I go to is just a state of mind. Safe and away from hungry species.  This image, using my godson Alvi's baby photo,  was possible thanks to layers and effects of Adobe's popular software, PS. Photomanipulation is a breeze. See how I did this photo edit called "Safari Sun" from start to finish. -- (see image below)

The Ultrasound Room. Doc, Nikonian or Canonian? (A Father's Day Special)

Photomanipulation and Concept by George Pontino Jr.

One day I met up with a friend, a multi-awarded sculptor Natalio "Nonoy" Alob Jr. and he invited me to his son's baptism. He also asked to me to be the Godfather of Alvi.
To commemorate his son's baptism and the upcoming Father's Day, I asked him if he has ultrasound shots of Alvi. Since he's the owner of a Canon 90D, I told him a concept that kept on springing up from my mind: We will be inside the ultrasound room where I'm the doctor and he's seeing something peculiar and seems to asks me if his baby is a Nikon or Canon user. Turns out that Alvi, who is still inside the womb, carries a 90D camera.
So, I took that challenge and here's the final image and its step by step presentation:

Note: I dedicate this photoshop manipulation wholeheartedly to my father George Pontino Sr. who introduced me early to film photography by giving me his Nikon FA film camera when I was still in High School. He sacrificed his hobby by sharing it to me selflessly and that paved ways to my capturing the world in my own interpretation. Without that sacrifice, I could have not known photography that early. Thanks papa for giving me a Nikonian trail.Happy Father's Day!

"We Got No Troubles! Life is the Bubbles!" (Photographers in Peril part 4)

Photomanipulation and Concept by George Pontino Jr.

One of the great things about photomanipulation is the fact that you get to conceptualize amazing things that many people think could be impossible or crazy...even putting bands doing music underwater may seem far-fetched for an idea. But not to the tools of Photoshop.  Many advertising agency has used the power of Photoshop's tools to simply make impossible things come to life, albeit, in a jpg image only.

My  title "We Got no Troubles. Life is the Bubbles" is inspired and taken from Disney's Little Mermaid's song "Under the Sea" sang by the singing lobster, Sebastian. The Ariel-starrer flick also inspired me to do this image, a concert in the sea where bubbles will probably what you will mostly only  hear when these talented musicians finally sing.  This comedic image yet a fancy underwater musical to entertain. I took the camera and shot a worm's-eye-view.

Check out the perfomances of the band at http://www.youtube.com/user/herberthumphrey

Operation: "Kodak Moment" (Photographers in Peril part 3)

Photomanipulation by George Pontino Jr.

War is an ugly thing. There's nothing to argue when it comes to that but besides that making it as theme for a good laugh isn't even ugly or bad right? That's why there's a term called 'spoof' or 'laugh trip'. One day I got a Facebook wall message; a photo manipulation request from a friend who is into war games. He asked for an Iraq theme (sensitive issue, eh?) So, I pondered on an idea and, of course, I wanted it to be light and wholesome and here's Operation: "Kodak Moment" for you to enjoy and share. :)

The Macro Shooter (Photographers in Peril part 2)

Photomanipulation and concept by George Pontino Jr.

The Macro Shooter is the 2nd part of my "Photographers in Peril" series.
The first one was End of Decadence (Going Greek Volcanic) which can be found below this blog and in my Facebook page.
I really had fun doing this image. For one, I used a real person which I asked to model for me for my concept (See sketch nelow). So I was in for a Photoshop challenge to turn my cartoonish idea into something realistic bu yet still has that comedic touch...to put this way, slapstick mood.

Cafe Macro (Cappuccino Version)

Photos by George Pontino Jr.

Once a Upon a Time, I was on a cafe shop in Bacolod City called Cafe Bobs. I was having a conversation with some friends when two men entered the cafe that paved a way to this image called Cafe Macro. Those guys are Photography enthusiasts Jimbo Araneta and Harold Aujero. Jimbo, an ace macro photographer, signaled me to go to them for Harold is selling his Tokina telephoto lens (if you check out the photo there are camera bags and gears in sight). Well, to make the story short, I went home with that dear lens.

Months and months after, upon searching for some images on my harddisk, I stumbled on a shot which I took on that fateful night and I figured out what if we have met on a Macro Cafe. This idea would simply relate to photography enthusiasts especially those who are into macro photography. So, here it is... the Cappuccino version and I have another version still on my mind. Maybe this time Jimbo would lend some of his superb macro shots.:)

Crouching Laundry and the Hidden Panty Photomanipulation

Photomanipulation and concept by George Pontino Jr

Models: Boy, Mark and Chad

Now, it's time for some humor with a martial art twist located somewhere in rural China.
I had so much fun doing Crouching Laundry and the Hidden Panty (sorry if the title offends you). For one, it tested my creativity to the hilt especially in creating a funny yet photo-realistic image with that cartoon vibe. Adding challenge to the entire image is how I should portray an effect of wind blowing on the clothes hanging on laundry. Thanks to Photoshop tools, I get to manipulate the clothes as if the breeze in the countryside is blowing.

Force Field (The Jumper series) The 7-minute Photoshop Manipulation

Photomanipulation and concept by George Pontino Jr.

What does it take to make one wake up very early in the morning. One answer is that the early morning sun heats up around 5:00 am in the middle east during springtime. This could hinder photography adventure especially in Saudi Arabia's Hidden Valley. Good thing it was a sandstormy plus rainy day that we were able to have a picturesque sky and clouds over a gigantic boulders of rock formation. Hidden Valley was our second stop and this is where we had our respite and the site of one of my Jumper series. With Juhn Abutal giving out energy through his jumping skills, I was able to capture dramatic motion shots with just two takes. Whew! We went home as the sun heated up and as the rain bade farewell following a blinding sandstorm. And on the computer, I challenged myself with a very short time limit... And that is, do a not-more-than 7 minutes photoshop manipulation with powerful result.(Click the images to enlarge)
